Before the surgery,
like other patients who decide to have double jaw surgery, I had a very severe chin or a bit of malocclusion, but it wasn't so bad that I couldn't chew food.
However, my chin always stood out when I looked in the mirror or took pictures with friends. I had such a complex that I covered it with my hands or always wore my hair on the side.
So, after convincing my parents many times... !
After receiving permission and carefully reviewing various hospitals and reviews, including Internet reviews, YouTube, Seongyesa, Bobby Talk, and Gangnam Unni, and receiving consultations from a total of five famous plastic surgery clinics in Gangnam,
I chose Waigugang Facial Surgery.
First of all, it was important that it was an oral and maxillofacial surgery rather than a general plastic surgery, and it was also good that post-orthodontic treatment could be done here as they also have a dental clinic. Also, at other hospitals, the change can be really dramatic, such as the jutting chin and cheekbones being too big (I don't think it would work if I didn't do it. .ㅎ?) As you said, the director and director at Y Oral and Facial Surgery are pretty enough and it is not a very serious case. Even if surgery is performed, there will not be a very dramatic change. Even if surgery is performed, they will perform the surgery in a safe manner without any side effects and are very careful. He spoke honestly haha, so I had some faith in him (sooooo..) And it was so nice that he kept a close eye on my condition through KakaoTalk frequently before and after the surgery, and responded kindly right away when I asked questions.ㅏ.ㅜ
The day before the surgery,
I ate until 12 o'clock the day before. I ate as much as I wanted (thinking that I won't be able to eat properly for 3 months, so eat as much as I want!! I regretted eating more that day...ㅠ), started fasting, looked at other people's reviews and watched YouTube, and gathered supplies (Daiso sauce container, Donut cushion, extra underwear, toilet paper, power strip, charger, sleeping socks, etc.)
I remember entering the operating room very nervous
on the day of surgery
... The doctors and nurses comforted and encouraged me not to be nervous, but I actually didn't hear a word. .^^
The injection is going in. I said, “Take a deep breath~” and I don’t remember anything after breathing. I went in at 10 a.m. After about 4 hours of surgery, I opened my eyes at 2:30 p.m. and there was a lump in my mouth. I was out of my mind and couldn’t think of anything. I didn't use it and just stayed in a daze. Fortunately, I don't think there was much pain, perhaps because I was still taking painkillers or because the anesthesia was gone.
When I came to, the director told me that the surgery went well.
Post-surgery For two days, I think it was so difficult not because I was sick, but because I was uncomfortable. Of course, I couldn't sleep well, and
my mouth was very dry, so I had to keep the humidifier on
. It was especially difficult for me because I couldn't cough and kept coughing when phlegm came up into my airways. And because I kept lying down, my butt was really numb and my butt hurt more than my chin. If you have any discomfort here, you can ring the call bell and the nurses will come. Especially at night, the nurses on duty work hard to change my pack, change the water in my humidifier, and even take care of me like a mother. I was so thankful and sorry that they kindly picked it up when I dropped it and rang the call bell.
3rd day (discharge)
On the 3rd day of orthodontic treatment, I packed my bags, changed clothes, received laser treatment for swelling, saw the doctor once, got prescriptions from the pharmacy around 10 o'clock, and returned home. At this point, can I pour more here? I wanted to, but it got more and more swollen..^^;
When I got home, I took New Care, took pills, took ice packs, and the cravings over and over again. There wasn't any pain, and I think I sat up and went to sleep for 2 hours, woke up, and repeated it again. They said
it was the most swollen time on the long-awaited 4th or 5th day
.. In fact, it was so bad. Maybe it was because of the swelling, but my head was heavy, so my neck hurt a little... haha. I was really worried when I looked in the mirror and wondered if the surgery was wrong, but the hospital checked my condition from time to time and supported me by worrying that it was when the swelling was at its worst. I was relieved and continued to live.
6-7 Day 1
5 days have passed... Still, once the week is up, the big hurdle has been overcome. From this point on, replace cold compresses with hot compresses! The swelling is still severe, and the bruises are gradually growing from yellow to green. The bruises that were originally on my cheeks gradually started to come down, and eventually turned yellow on my neck (fresh... haha). The hospital said I could put a waterproof tape on it and shower without water touching the stitches. Because I'm scared... haha (actually it's an excuse and it's just annoying) the picture is very dirty ha_ha
I only ate New Care three meals a day for a week.
On the 8th day,
I went to the hospital early in the morning to have the stitches removed next to my ear and got a swelling laser. The swelling was definitely worse than before. A lot of it has come off and I can now separate the wafers while eating!
On the 2nd week (14th day),
I went to the hospital to have all the stitches in my mouth removed and had a laser treatment for swelling. Originally, my upper lip was tied, so it protruded like a bird's beak and I couldn't open my mouth very well, but after removing the stitches, my upper lip loosened and my mouth opened better than before. ^
From this point on, he told me to work hard on speaking up! Starting from the second week, I started eating soft foods that didn't require chewing, such as porridge, steamed eggs, or plain yogurt! Maybe it's because I couldn't eat well because of the surgery, but I lost 5 kg (I felt good about the unintentional diet haha). The swelling went down quite a bit, and my friends said that to an ordinary person, I just look like a kid with fat cheeks. I can talk easily, but I don't know if it's just me, but I talk too much. Because I did it a lot, my throat got hoarse quickly.. (Don’t overdo it like I did until you recover..!!)
I felt good when people around me complimented me on how much younger I looked and how much softer my facial expressions were, and I thought I did a good job. I'm also curious and looking forward to what will happen when the swelling goes down further!
